Green nature reveals a mosaic of vibrant tulip fields, a kaleidoscope of colours that seems endless. Canals adorned with picturesque bridges and lined with charming houses meander through historic cities such as Amsterdam, their glassy waters reflecting captivating architecture. Warm and friendly, the Dutch ride their bikes with easy elegance, giving the streets a touch of casual chic. Why do I want to work in the Netherlands? There are many answers to this question. The Netherlands is a very orderly<\/strong>, clean <\/strong>and beautiful <\/strong>country. With many windmills, numerous canals where lilies bloom, and clean and picturesque villages and towns. Above all, the people there are kind, smiling, friendly and helpful.<\/p>\n\n

Aneliya Kodzhanikolova<\/em> (my contact person in Athens), always answers my calls and finds a solution to any problem that may arise during my trip to the Netherlands. I started working in the Netherlands last August. I was originally supposed to stay for 7 weeks, but I came home this year. The family is nice. They are great to work with. We communicate in Italian.<\/p>\n\n

What I like about the Netherlands is punctuality<\/strong>. Public transport is also very well organised<\/strong>. It is easy for a foreigner to get anywhere if they know English. In the Netherlands, 95% of the population speaks English. Their pronunciation is perfect! When you talk to someone, you don’t even realise they are Dutch. The Dutch are also incredibly friendly – you see smiles everywhere: in the shop, on the street, on the bus. Almost everywhere.<\/p>\n\n

My name is Nadezhda and this is my first time working as a caregiver in the Netherlands. I came in April as a friend of mine recommended me to a family where I was placed in Zeist. I was charmed by the warmth and treatment I received. I cared for a man who had a rare neurological condition, but the aids he used helped him move around more easily. My duties included making him breakfast, preparing his clothes, and accompanying him on his bike so that I could be there for him when needed. The conditions I was offered were amazing, my own room was very comfortable. It included everything I needed. Twice a week I had free time and I used it to explore the sights. <\/p>\n\n

I am now seeing a patient who is originally Bulgarian. A lady here needs help from others because of severe dementia and an operation she had. And I will say again that carethe person comes first. Therefore, they have equipment that makes the caregiver’s job easier. Since I’ve been with her for the second month now, I can see that the woman has improved. She is almost walking on her own again. I prepare her dishes that are familiar from her native cuisine. Twice a day I take her outside for some fresh air with a wheelchair. It is not difficult to move around because the roads are made for the convenience of people like her. She smiles a lot – I think I have a positive effect on her. I am relaxed, which is important for people with dementia. <\/p>\n\n

A kind gesture is sometimes very necessary to make them feel that they are not alone and that someone cares about them. I live with her family, who again are glad to have someone like me to give their mom attention and care. I can travel<\/strong> on my day off because the transport is at an exceptional level, so I am confident that I will be back on time. I enjoy trying something new in my professional field and I am pleased that it reflects positively on the people I care for. They appreciate it.<\/p>\n\n
