Superinvestment in Veľký Krtíš
German automotive components manufacturer SAM automotive plans to build its new plant in Veľký Krtíš. It should eventually employ more than 800 people. The new plant with a production area of 30,000 m2 will focus on the production of aluminium door mouldings and roof racks primarily for the Volkswagen Slovakia, Audi and Mercedes-Benz car manufacturers in Hungary. According to the German company, the new plant is expected to reach full production capacity in 2023.
This will be the fifth production plant for SAM automotive – three in Germany and one in Mexico. Currently the company employs more than 2 100 employees and has a turnover of more than 300 million Euros per year.
Good and bad news for Nitra
Let’s start with the bad – Air Liquide Slovakia is closing its plant, which it built in 2004 to develop, manufacture and sell welding machines and produce battery chargers. A total of 112 employees will lose their jobs by the end of next March. The company has already reported the mass redundancies to the Labour, Social Affairs and Family Office.
The good news comes from ArcelorMittal Gonvarri SSC Slovakia s.r.o. It plans to build a new production plant in Nitra. It will be involved in the production of parts for the automotive industry, in particular for production at Jaguar Land Rover. The company plans to gradually create 152 new jobs in the new plant. The new production plant will be built on an area of more than 77,000 m2 in the cadastral area of the village of Lužianky, south of the Jaguar Land Rover plant site. Total construction costs are estimated at EUR 26 million and production is expected to start in 2020.
