If you have such feelings for a longer period of time, wake up in the morning with a bad mood and little to cheer you up, you really should not take your condition lightly.
When a person sneezes, has fevers and is tired, he goes to the doctor, drinks a lot of tea and sweats under the duvet for two days. Unfortunately, mental health problems are still overlooked by many people and they do not admit that they can lead to a serious condition. If you don’t nip exhaustion and burnout in the bud, you may reach the finish line with severe depression and the feeling that you no longer see the meaning of life.
Keep your head up, keep fighting
If the previous lines were strong and perhaps scared you a little, the following ones will hopefully calm you down. Burnout can be prevented if we realise it is coming early.
We live in a time when it wears to be ambitious. We are fulfilling our professional dreams, we want to be among the first. We should smile at work, especially when we interact with customers. We want to meet deadlines, always have fresh ideas and get praise from the boss.
Along with not impoverishing the family, taking care of the household and helping a friend when they need it. But even our energy bank will run out one day, the imaginary display will show red numbers and zero percent battery. This is exactly what we want to prevent – and there are more ways to do it.
Burnout and overwork are usually caused by one of the powerful trinity: stress – physical exhaustion – mental exhaustion. In your profession you can’t avoid them completely, but the important thing is – to know how to compensate for them and relax. For example, try this.
Sport is a miracle cure!
If you sit at a computer all day trapped in an office, hanging on the phone and communicating with dozens of people, this is the news relaxation for you. During physical exercise, you will come to different thoughts, relax the body and most importantly – you will release hormones of happiness.
Find an activity that suits you. Some people like team sports, because in aerobics, volleyball or football, the team and friendly relationships also motivate regularity. Some people prefer to run solo. You don’t have to perform heroic feats, sometimes you just need to get off the bike and relax by taking in your surroundings. Or go for regular walks in the countryside and breathe in the fresh air. Sport is a wonderful medicine that you don’t have to pay for.
Organise your free time
If you leave work drained of energy, roll into bed at home and go blind after dark, the feeling of joy is unlikely to arrive. Find afternoon activities to look forward to. Organise your programme and live a varied life. Do what you love, you will get new motivation and desire. Not to mention that you will be happy with yourself.
Treat yourself to a holiday
Everyone needs to take a break from work and put their usual activities aside for a while and experience something new. To sleep in the morning and not get up feeling like you need to rush somewhere. Come to other thoughts. A longer holiday at least once a year is an excellent prevention against exhaustion. Ideally, you should have it before the warning light starts flashing. You don’t have to go to exotic countries. A holiday in the mountains or at the spa will also get you in shape. And we have plenty of such opportunities in Slovakia.
Don’t forget your friends
They make the world a more beautiful place. You can tell them what’s bothering you and laugh with them at things that only you will understand. Friends create a zone in which we feel safe and comfortable, even if we leave our painted smile mask on the shelf at home.
Don’t forget them even when you have a lot of work, a lot of kids, a lot of dust on the shelves and a big pile of clothes waiting for you at the washing machine. Contact with those you love is more important than a vacuumed home. Because it is good if there is a direct proportionality in our lives. As much time as we work, let us devote to fun, relaxation and activities that bring us joy.
Are you really close to burnout?
If you’ve read up to these lines, you’ve probably already experienced the feelings described. Are you currently close to burnout? Read the following statements. Do you identify with them?
Oh, God. Tomorrow work again. Thinking about her nowadays doesn’t amuse me at all.
If I didn’t need the money, I’d quit the whole job. Nothing in it fulfills me.
I smile at the power. I don’t like my colleagues and the customers are even more annoying.
I’m exhausted. I don’t feel like working. I’m not enjoying anything at work.
When I walk home from work, I don’t want to smile. I’m not looking forward to anything.
I get nervous when I see cheerful people. And even more so when I see how much they enjoy their work.
So, like, do you identify with them? If so, take protective measures quickly. Play sports, live actively, meet friends, take a vacation. Don’t just live for work. Live in such a way that every day brings you joy.
