For a long time it was only whispered about, but today we already know that Korean Samsung has definitely decided about the fate of its plant in Voderady. After less than 10 years of operation, it is moving the production of LCD modules to a plant in Galanta, 20 km away. Why did the company’s management make this decision? What awaits the employees from Voderady?

Declining demand for products, declining sales, rising labour costs and cost optimisation – these are the factors that caused Samsung’s Voderad production to be moved to Galanta. The company’s management anticipates that by merging the production plants, they will be able to use company resources and production capacity more efficiently.

Voderady currently employs more than 1,500 people, 568 of whom are tribal employees. The company’s management has issued a statement that tribal employees are guaranteed a job even after production is moved. Agency workers don’t. And these are the majority – two-thirds (about 1,000) of the employees work in Korean companies through an employment agency. Their fate is still unclear.

Our team cares about the fate of people who lose their jobs through redeployment. We are already able to offer them 500 current job opportunities in the vicinity of Voderady and more than 3,100 in total throughout Slovakia. You can find them on our website and you can contact us at any time if you are interested.
