Tatiana is a single woman working as a carer abroad. Every two weeks she went to exchange turnus to her patient in Hamburg. She would normally use a comfortable way of transportaton to and from here job. But now she has been worried about how to get to her client. Read the story of a carer who went across the country on her own.
At the beginning of her trip Tatiana from Púchov had no idea that it would be so simple to travel. The state closed the airports, later the borders, and she didn´t know how to get to Hamburg to her patient who needed her and was already used to her care. But the great consolation for her was that her two colleagues, whom she already knew well, should travel in this way.
Her adventure began in the car and was a long way ahead of her. In addition, due to the situation, she was forced to switch several means of transport. A friend brought her to the Austrian-Slovak border. Since neither of them knew the border crossing Jarovce – Kittsee, they asked the police officer. He was very willing to tell them where and how Tatiana should get off and cross the border, which was pleasantly surprising. On the Austrian side were also police officers who showed them the train they were supposed to board with her colleagues.
“The train to Vienna was empty and clean. Of course we did wear masks and gloves. In Vienna, we switched to a train to Hamburg, which we had to wait for a while, but it went quickly. He came precisely without delay and all the wagons were equally clean. Around midnight, we were checked by the border police, asking for travel documents and an employment contract. The check was without any problems and we were lucky to reach our patients in Hamburg. I decided to undergo this less comfortable way of transportation, but it was nothing tragic in the end. Don’t worry, you can do it too.”
