The “Under One Roof” event connected disadvantaged individuals with equipment that will change their lives. It took place in Banská Bystrica.

As part of an initiative aimed at uplifting the lives of disadvantaged individuals, a pilot exhibition called“Under One Roof” recently took place in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia. This remarkable event brought together more than 40 entities, including government institutions such as social services and the Department of Human Services, with companies providing a variety of medical and nursing aids for people in need.

Promoting inclusiveness and support

The main aim of the exhibition “Under one roof” was to bridge the gap between companies offering specialised equipment for disadvantaged people and the people who need such help. Their families or caregivers were also taken into account. By bringing together a diverse range of exhibitors under one ‘roof’, the event sought to create an environment in which contacts could be developed and change lives.

Specific examples

There were also demonstrations at the“Under One Roof” event. Throughout the exhibition visitors had the opportunity to see presentations of various new devices and innovations. The demonstrations were not just product introductions. Visitors could get first-hand information on how to use various aids aimed at helping people with mobility problems, hearing or vision impairments and many other disabilities. The aim of these information sessions was also to educate participants on the practical use and benefits of such equipment. This has strengthened opportunities for caregivers and those in need of help.

Global efforts for the disadvantaged

Although Banská Bystrica celebrated the success of the“Under One Roof” exhibition, it is important to remember that similar exhibitions are organised in different countries around the world. Notable examples include Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States, which have been at the forefront of organising events and initiatives to support disadvantaged people. You will find at least one similar event in each of these countries over the next two weeks ! For example, in just over a week (6-8 June 2023) the Autonomic event will take place in Bremen, Germany. This is a publicly accessible fair to help the disabled and elderly.

The commitment of these countries to creating opportunities and promoting inclusiveness is a remarkable example that other countries should follow. But they are not the only countries trying to bring the latest technology to the people who need it. Countries like Taiwan, France, Finland and the Czech Republic are not that far away and are also very active in this effort.

We at Atena are extremely proud that Banská Bystrica has been chosen as the city for this inspiring event. And of course we didn’t miss the opportunity to visit it in person. Even though we are a company closely connected with the healthcare industry which keeps up with modern trends we were still surprised by some of the new equipment that was shown there.

Since Banská Bystrica is where our headquarters are located we try to give back to the local community in different ways. We are happy that in the fact Atena is not alone in this and that there are other people and companies who are trying to improve the city and the local community by helping those who need it most.
