Jobseekers who are registered as unemployed and going for a job interview can apply for reimbursement of part of their travel costs. According to the Office of Labour, Social Affairs and Family, travel expenses are expenses for transport by public transport from the place of permanent residence or from the place of temporary residence, and if no public transport is available from the place of permanent residence or from the place of temporary residence, from a place with access to public transport to the place of the entrance interview, selection procedure or group placement. It is important that the date on the tickets matches the date of the selection procedure with the employer.

Conditions:

  1. The jobseeker must be on the unemployment register.
  2. They must complete a written application for reimbursement of part of their travel expenses, accompanied by a certificate of completion of the initial interview or selection procedure, which must include an invitation letter, a certificate of attendance at the interview and tickets from public transport.
  3. The application must be submitted no later than 10 working days after the end of the calendar month in which the entitlement to reimbursement of part of the travel expenses arose.
  4. Travel expenses must be more than EUR 4 and amount to 70 % of the travel expenses proven, up to a maximum of EUR 35 in total for all journeys made in a calendar month.
