In today’s economically unstable times, employers are finding it increasingly difficult to keep up with the relentless rate of inflation that continues to affect our daily lives. The situation is particularly difficult in the European Union, where the purchasing power of our currency is steadily declining. The financial well-being of carers and staff in general hangs in the balance and the need for a solution has never been more pressing.

Empowering carers: a commitment to fair pay

At Atena, we understand the plight of many individuals struggling to maintain their standard of living in a time of constant economic turmoil. As a trusted recruitment agency dedicated to ensuring the financial stability of carers, we recognise the importance of providing not only job security but also fair remuneration. It is with this commitment in mind that we are pleased to announce a positive change that will have a direct impact on all caregivers working with us in Germany.

A brighter future: we are raising salaries to beat inflation.

As of 1 November 2023, every caregiver working with Atena in Germany will receive an extra €50 every month. We firmly believe that every hard-working person deserves to maintain, if not increase, their quality of life in the face of inflation. Unlike employees of other companies who may be forced to reduce their standard of living or look for another job to make ends meet, we take a proactive approach to ensure our caregivers have the financial security they deserve.

Exceeding expectations: our commitment to growth

At Atena, our commitment to pay raises is more than just a short-term solution; it’s a commitment to building lasting partnerships and relationships with our valued caregivers. We are fully aware of the average inflation rate in the European Union. In particular, the staggering levels of inflation we experienced in 2022 and 2023 have left a lasting impact on our economy. To give you a better idea, something that cost €100 in 2013 is equivalent to around €132 today, after inflation is taken into account. This represents a cumulative inflation rate of 32% over the last decade.

How have we responded in the long term?

In these challenging economic conditions, it is inspiring to see how Atena is not only keeping up with inflation but also beating it… Taking historical data into account, the average monthly wage for caregivers at Atena in November 2013 was €1,243.34. Fast forward to November 2023 and the average monthly wage has increased to a remarkable EUR 1 740. This significant increase represents a 40% increase in wages over the same period, which exceeds the 32% cumulative rate of inflation.
