For the last two years, companies have been working hard to organise Christmas events through Zoom. After many attempts at online team building activities and sipping drinks in front of a webcam, they finally managed to unleash their creativity. They have the opportunity to do something for Christmas that no employee will forget. Look what they’ve come up with.

Christmas trip

There aren’t many people who don’t like to travel. This is the main reason why a trip is almost always a great idea. You don’t have to take your employees to Hawaii or the Grand Canyon. No matter where you are, there are always amazing places nearby. And above all, remember what Ralph Waldo Emerson said – “It is not thedestination, but the journey.” It’s always best to make a plan A, of course, include lots of fun activities along the way.

Christmas gifts

Many companies choose to celebrate Christmas by buying gifts for their employees. It doesn’t require too much effort. But if done right, it can boost morale and motivate employees. If it is a small company and you know everyone well, it is not a problem to choose gifts. However, if you are in charge of a large team, a gift card is always the best option. And if you think“there’s no such thing as a bad present“, here are a few things that employees have received from their employer for Christmas:
-the boss’s bounty hunter
-human weight
-book on how to be better at work
-milk carton
-a tourniquet (a device that is placed on an extremity to restrict blood flow)

Have a “working” day

Stress in the workplace is, unfortunately, something common. So common that some people even associate their jobs with stress. But Christmas is the best way to change that! You can organise a day in which employees are present as usual, but instead of work you provide them with 8 hours of fun activities. Some companies have a “bring your pet to work” day. Imagine spending your entire working day petting and playing with animals. Some companies will ask employees to dress their pets in Christmas-themed clothing and put on a parade.

Another great option that many employers choose is a personal dining experience. For one day, they turn the office into a kitchen and hire the best local chefs to prepare a once-in-a-lifetime meal for everyone. And if the people in the office are not foodies or have allergies to animals, there are plenty of other options.

What better way to turn your office into a kitchen? Make it a bar! Hire a professional bartender for a day and organise a cocktail making course. First, everyone can learn something new and then show off their new skills and knowledge during the upcoming holidays. And to make matters worse, you can turn this into a team building exercise by having people work together, with the prior agreement of the bartender. And, of course, to taste the fruits of their efforts when they are finished.

Give to those in need

There is no better feeling than the one you get when you give. That’s why many companies choose Christmas time to dedicate themselves to building community and helping in any way they can. It doesn’t matter if it’s a food collection or buying Christmas presents for a nursing home or children’s home.

Some companies go even further and turn it into a game. For example, some teams at Dell do this. Each of them collects 10 to 20 euros. Then they have until 3. January to perform 10 acts of kindness. It could be giving up your parking space to someone else, giving priority in the queue you’re waiting in, or anything else. In the end, everyone submits their results and after voting, the winner chooses where all the money will be donated.
