For working at night, on weekends and holidays, Slovaks will receive from 1. may much more money than before. Parliament also approves a proposal to introduce 13. and 14. salaries. How will the amendment change the allowances?

13. and 14th salary

Disbursement The 13th salary will be for the first time in June this year. The condition for payment is at least two continuous years of service with the company. Disbursement 13. salary is voluntary and depends only on the employer. For redemption 14. salary, two conditions must be met: a minimum of 4 years of service and that the employee has been previously paid 13th Plat. Also The 14th salary will be paid on a voluntary basis.

13. i The 14th salary will be progressively exempt from taxes and levies. The employer should pay these bonuses to the employee at the rate of their average monthly earnings. However, the relief is to be at most on remuneration up to €500.

Night work allowance

The increased allowances will be calculated on the basis of the minimum hourly wage, which for this year is €2.76. The night work premium will be increased by 30% of the minimum hourly wage, i.e. €0.83 per hour. From 1. On May 2019, this amount will increase to 40%, i.e. €1.10 per hour. For hazardous work, the premium is to be even higher – 35% of the minimum hourly wage (€0.97) this year and 50% (€1.38) next year.

Extra pay for weekend work

Employees will also have higher increments for weekend work. The supplement for Saturday work is set at 25% of the minimum wage per hour (€0.69) and 50% (€1.38) from next year. Sunday work will be even more expensive – from 1. May this year should be 50% of the minimum hourly wage (€ 1.38) and from 1. In May next year, it should be 100% (€2.76).

Work during the holidays

Instead of the current 50%, the additional payment for working on public holidays will now be 100% (€2.76).
