Recruitment, like everything else in this world, is evolving. And because it is closely linked to technology, the pace of development is fast. Unlike 20 or 50 years ago, we rely much more on social media and the internet in general. But technology is not the only factor. Mobility also plays a huge role in the development of modern human resources. Today, a person living in the EU can pack a bag of clothes, take their ID card and move abroad for work in a matter of hours.

Probably the biggest advantage of looking for employees abroad is the number of candidates from which you can choose the most suitable one for the job. It’s a simple statistic. You would most likely have to lower your requirements if you were to choose a person to fill the position from only ten candidates. If you have a hundred CVs on your desk, you might be able to find the right candidate. In case that there are a thousand of those candidates instead, you will be looking for the most ideal one, not the one who ticks the most boxes on your questionnaire. After all, the company is made up of its employees. And you can’t be the best if you don’t hire the best.

Multicultural environment or workforce

We live in a time when everything should be politically correct. This means that we should not, or cannot, make hiring decisions based on age, religion, nationality or other stereotypes and prejudices. On the other hand, stereotypes are not always negative.

Eastern Europeans, for example, are known for their hospitality. If one is a good host, he will be most likely a good caregiver. The selfless nature tranfers into performing work that goes beyond standard duties by also providing comfort to the patient. And this is ultimately the main goal in care at the home – the patient’s comfort.

Central Europeans value family very highly. This makes them excellent employees in the long term. It may take them a little longer to form a relationship. But when they do, it’s honest, strong, and almost nothing can disrupt it.

Better teamwork and creativity

If you work in a field where creativity is required, there is nothing better than having a multicultural team. You get the advantage of having people on your team who have been brought up differently. This also applies to such things as customs and traditions. What sets them apart, however, is their different mindsets and ways of thinking. This means they can bring really fresh and creative ideas. They may even be able to see problems that no one has noticed before, and help solve them. Overall, it brings together multiple and different perspectives on how to approach difficult situations. This leads to excellent solutions.

Don’t judge a book by its cover

Prejudice can give you potentially true information about a person based on nationality, age or ethnicity. However, this information is not 100% valid in every case. They are also not the most important factor in recruitment. Focus solely on relevant experience and education. And if it turns out that your future employee is from abroad – enjoy all the benefits he or she will bring to your company.
